New Art for the Ozzy Wall
G and I have spent several months making and collecting artwork in honor of our beloved dog, Ozzy. We hang the art above his bed in the dining room, and have thus named the wall “Ozzy Wall”. It was only natural upon the discovery of an event at Trident for “pet watercolor painting” that we felt the need to sign up immediately.
I put on my most average clothes and photographed G as she did her makeup. I’ve been doing this since before college and I have quite a significant collection of makeup photos.
On our way to the T, I stopped G in her tracks. She looked perfect and these flowers growing through the fence were the most fitting accent to frame her. This is one of my favorite images of her.
We waited at the T stop for a bit and enjoyed the warm weather. Winter was long in Boston this year and we’ve been intentional to remind ourselves of the blessing that is summer heat.
We arrived at the bookstore and made our way upstairs to their class space where we were greeted by a very kind teacher who had already created outlines of our dog on fine bristol board. We were given materials and sent on our way. We quickly started painting, and G asked many questions. In the end, she did a much better job than I did.
After we finished our paintings, we strolled down the street until we came across an oyster bar and stopped for some of G’s favorite snacks. Pardon the missed focus, some of these older cameras have untrustworthy autofocus systems.
We headed back down into the T station and started our journey home to the dog with his new portraits.
We enjoyed an unusually empty Boston street scene and G danced.
We stopped a few times for photos here and there along our route home.
What a tremendously positive experience. A trip for the arts through a beautiful city, bookended by flowers and fine food, all in the name of our dog. Life is good.
